What makes a successful event planner?
I am highly organized with the ability to handle multiple details at once and I enjoy communicating with people and bringing ideas to life. I am a detail oriented multi-tasker with the ability to coordinate events that appeal to a variety of audiences. My 7 years of experience in event planning have proven that I can handle every detail needed to ensure my events go off without a hitch. In my spare time I am room parent for both of my kids classes in the Colorado public school system; so even in my free time, I chose to be planning their class parties and helping where I can.
Road trips were a summer event in my family growing up and this is how I discovered Colorado. I have always been an outdoorsy person and I dreamed of the day I would be able to call Colorado home. I moved here in 2001 to attend The University of Colorado, Boulder. I graduated three years later with a degree in Political Science. I have worked in local campaigns, personal banking, the financial industry, and event planning. In 2005 I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and joined the Denver Celiac Sprue Association that same year. I joined the board in 2009 in charge of programs; planning the chapter meetings and other events. I loved the idea of event planning and this was a great way to get my feet wet.
In 2011 I took over the planning responsibilities for the Incredible, Edible Gluten Free Food Fair and in 2014 the Gluten Free Gallop 5k; both remain successful annual events to this day. I have been blessed to have the flexibility with this job to stay at home with my 2 amazing boys. Now that my boys are in school, I look forward to adding other events to my schedule.
I love the outdoors and in my free time you will find me running, hiking, biking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, or playing with my kids outside.
